Full description

This series comprises the minutes of the House Committee of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (VA 1048).

The House Committee was responsible for investigating standards and general conditions at the hospital. This included stores, wards, complaints, and works required. The House Committee also had the power to consider the dismissal of officers not appointed by the Committee of Management.

Matters under consideration in these minutes included: maintenance and repairs; equipment; rules for staff; domestic services such as cleaning and laundry; catering; and staff establishment. Also included are reports to the House Committee.

In 1972, the House Committee was dissolved, and its activities assumed by the Executive Committee (For minutes of the Executive Committee see VPRS 19098).

Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives.
