This series comprises development files of the Biomedical Engineering Department of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) (VA 1048).
The department was first established in 1962 as Electronic Engineering, then became Biomedical Engineering, then Clinical Engineering.
The Biomedical Engineering Department records are development files for new and improved equipment for procedures in patient care and treatment. The records include papers, reports, diagrams, and correspondence related to equipment including: Pacemaker, Sleep Apnoea monitor, Cardiac/Arrhythmia Surgery/Mapping and RF Ablation research, and Telephone Transmission to the Electrocardiogram.
Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives
