The second section is and alphabetical index by (closest) station, description of job, date, surveyors initials, book and page reference.Level Books Index 1984 to 1996- numbers 1 to 32 with the first section being an index by number, with work location, page number and date. These records are partial indexes to the Survey, Field and Level Books held in VPRS 18342.

There are three alphabetical by line and/or location indexes covering the work of seven surveyors field books. The surveyors were W.H. Sherriff, F.L. Vial, N.A. Wigmore, R.F. Kinnane, J.Jones, M.A. Proctor and D.J. Burke. These are indexes by location (Line or nearest station), with a brief description of work done, field book number and page number.
