VPRS 18428 Employee History Cards

Full description

This series comprises of records documenting the employment details of staff who worked at Beechworth Mental Hospital (VA 2842) for the period covered by the cards.

The cards include employees:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Private address
- Date of appointment
- Position
- Promotions, higher duties and transfers
- Salary and increments
- Superannuation details (on the back of cards)
- Information regarding qualifications and examinations passed
- Date of separation from Mont Park
- Reason for separation (e.g. retirement, resignation, transfer to another agency or termination of services).

The cards may also include remarks which may contain comments about leave, marital status, examinations passed, qualifications, resignations, termination of services, whether living on grounds with rations, military service, transfers from and to other institutions, nationality, probation period, identity card details and previous employment details, retirement date.

Researchers should note that several employees have more than one card, indicating a duplication of some cards. Many staff members left employment and returned after a period of time, resulting in an updated set of details on a new card.
