This series consists of registers of correspondence referred to the Surveyor-General's Branch from District offices or from other branches of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) such as the Occupation Branch, for attention.

Details given are the Local Office Number - given as a file or correspondence number, the local office if applicable, the name and parish of the individual using the land, the instruction for action and how the correspondence was disposed of. Instructions were most usually for a Certified Plan, an Examination or a referral to the Accounts Branch. The usual disposal of the correspondence was to the Occupation Branch (O.B.) or the District Surveyor (D.S.).
