Full description
This index provides access to the minutes (located in VPRS 18225) recording the proceedings of meetings of the Mental Hygiene Authority and its successor, the Mental Health Authority. The index comprises five books that are in the form of binders, including Kalamazoo. The first meeting of the Mental Hygiene Authority was held on 18 January 1952.
Folios in the Minute Books are numbered sequentially in hand writing. The numbering ceases with Unit 10, in April 1974. Entries in the Index refer to those folio numbers. Each letter of the alphabet has its own section within each index book except for X, Y and Z which are combined. There is also a Mc section. Each alphabetical section includes a personal index for references to people within the minutes. There is information about the person in addition to their name, such as patient, charge nurse, parent of retarded child etc.
The alphabetical sections within the Index are broken down into broad subject areas, eg Acts of Parliament, Administrative Division, Advisory Committee, Auxiliaries etc. There are numerous and varied entries within those broad subject areas.
Folio numbering ceased in April 1974. Minutes after that date are not indexed. The final meeting of the Mental Health Authority was held on 6 December 1978.
Researchers should use this series in conjunction with the series of Minute Books and consult the relevant minutes for their subject(s) of interest.
