Entries in each section record a number (the state ward number), client name, client date of birth and transfer date. This series is an index that provides references to ward file numbers and to the date of transfer of clients from the Family Welfare Division to the Youth Welfare Division.

File number references in this series may provide access to files in VPRS 10071 Ward Files. Transfer dates may provide access to entries in VPRS 18211 Register of Family Welfare Transfers from which record you can obtain Youth Welfare Division file references to files in VPRS 16747.

The volume was compiled by the Children's Court Advisory Service which was part of the Social Welfare Branch of the Chief Secretary's department (and its successor agencies), to provide advice to Courts and assist them in determining the most appropriate dispositions regarding young people brought before them.
