VPRS 18177 Employee History Cards

Full description

This series consists of cards that record summary information relating to employees at the Sunbury Mental Hospital and Caloola Training Centre, previously known as the Sunbury Training Centre (VA 2843).

This series contains cards from various recordkeeping systems which had been brought together over time. As a result the series consists of cards in multiple formats including cards that have been re-purposed and record information for which the cards were not designed to record.

Most of the records relate to nursing staff, including nursing students, with some relating to other staff such as drivers and kitchen staff.

Most cards include staff name, position and salary details, qualifications and leave. For nursing staff, most frequently is added a card headed Nursing Staff Leave Card. Notes attached may relate to leave, disciplinary matters, resignations etc. Other cards that may be in this group or attached to the primary record include the Employee's History card, and the Mental Health Nursing card.

The cards for staff who commenced from 1986, includes:
- Gratuities and allowances.
- Salary and increments
- Personal information and departmental position information.
- Service record for the individual

Researchers should note that a review of this series at the time of transfer determined that the employee listings in this series is incomplete. The agency responsible for these records and Public Record Office Victoria have been unable to determine why this is the case. Employees who have been included in either Government Gazettes or Record Cards of Public Servants (VPRS 9889) do not always appear on the employee list in this series.
