This series consists of registers recording female patients in residence at Sunbury (VA 2843) from approximately 1950 until approximately 1968. The exact purpose of these records is not known, however they are thought to have been used primarily as a daily roll of attendance, or as a record of patients' leave.The first volume covers a time period when intellectually disabled residents were admitted to mental hospitals under section 44 of the Mental Health Act 1959.
The second and third volumes cover the time period after the Training Centre was opened at the Sunbury Asylum site.
Unit 1 records only:
- Name
- Admission date
- Ward Placement
- Current Status (whether on leave, transferred, discharged, deceased)
Units 2 and 3 partially overlap in date range and duplicate entries sometimes appear in both units. It is not known why these records were kept concurrently or how they differ. These units record the following information:
- Name
- Section (of the Mental health Act, under which admitted)
- Date of Admission
- Ward Placement
- Remarks
