VPRS 18165 Outward Letter Book: Military Patients

This series consists of one volume containing letterpress copies of outward correspondence relating to military patients (soldiers), both Australian and foreign, admitted at Royal Park (VA 2845).

By order of a Hospital for the Insane, Royal Park memorandum, dated 9 June 1916, all departmental correspondence relating to soldiers was to be copied, and those copies were to be kept in a special letter book for that specific purpose. This memorandum is pasted to the inside front cover of this register.

Much of the correspondence provides details as to the mental condition of individual soldiers. Other correspondence lists those soldiers admitted or discharged at particular times. Some of the copied information is illegible.
Only a small portion of the register has been used, and no other registers of this type have been located to date.

The register also has an alphabetical index at the beginning which has not been used.
