VPRS 18153 Patient Movement Register

Full description

This series records the monthly movement of patients to and from Mont Park (VA 2846).

The purpose of this record is unknown, however it may have been to assist with reporting, or managing the day to day operations of the hospital.

Although admission, discharge and transfer information can also be found in VPRS 17872 Admission and Discharge Register of Patients, the entries relating to trial leave, escape and recapture found in the Patient Movement Register are not known to exist elsewhere.

The register uses two facing pages for each month, with comings on one page and goings on the other page. Each page is broken into separate sections, and within each section the entries record the date and the patient name. The sections are:
Received (i.e. Admitted)
Transferred to Mont Park
Returned from Leave and Recaptured
Discharged
Transferred from Mont Park
Died
On Leave and Escaped.

From the rear of the volume, statistical information for each month of the same time period has been kept, which reflects the movements to and from the hospital. This information uses the same categories as in the main portion of the register, but enters numbers by gender, with a monthly total, and a running total.
