Full description

In June 1993 the Nunawading Youth Residential Centre (NYRC) closed. This series consists of the Chief Executive Officer's records relating to the closure of the NYRC and relocation of trainees and staff.

The records include: copies of correspondence to and from the Chief Executive Officer; the 'Issues for Consideration' paper from the Nunawading Relocation Project Co-ordination Group and the feasibility study regarding location options, a task analysis report on the closure and decommissioning schedule for the centre. The files include the Nunawading Relocation Steering Group Meetings and operational material about staff relocation / retirement and the voluntary resignation package offered by the Department, as well as correspondence from staff groups protesting over the closure and the Chief Executive Officer's response to this. There is also material relating to the remaining trainees and some of the staff being relocated to Baltara (VA 5090) in Parkville.
