On most pages, the year a photograph was taken is noted at the top right or left corner, and most have a descriptive.This series is related to series VPRS 12903 (Photographic Negatives: Railways: Box Systems), which contains the glass negatives of some of the photographs in this album. Some of these negatives (mostly from 1932) have been digitised and are available online in PROVguide 69 (The Public Transport Corporation Photographic Collection Online). This series consists of a photograph album that documents the history of the Victorian Railways Printing Works. For some years, the Victorian Railways Printing Works were located in Laurens Street, North Melbourne. It was responsible for printing railway tickets and timetables, as well as other items such as brochures, flyers, booklets, and reports.

The album contains black and white photographic prints, mounted on card pages. There are also some loose photographs that appear to have been added later.
