This series consists of handwritten exercise books that were used by staff at Winlaton Youth Training Centre (VA 5093) to keep track of the arrangements made for and the movements of trainees who attended schools, completed paid work, voluntary work and work experience within the community. They books recorded the following information about trainees at Leawarra Hostel:

- trainee name
- times trainee out
- date
- types of school/work the trainee had left the centre for (i.e paid/voluntary/school etc.)
- arrangements made for lunch
- type of travel if ticket required
- venue (i.e Safeway, Burwood)
- contact telephone number.

Leawarra Hostel was a low security pre-release unit at the Winlaton Youth Training Centre. Its function was to enable girls to learn living and coping skills in order to make a successful transition to the community. It also had a self-contained flat where girls were able to practice living in such an environment. Girls residing at the hostel were able to attend local schools and have outside employment. Leawarra had 17 bedrooms and was located outside the main compound.
