VPRS 17966 Absconder, Escapee and Discharge Cards

Full description

This series comprise of cards that provide a summary record for trainees who absconded, escaped or were discharged during the particular calendar year from the Langi Kal Kal Youth Training Centre (VA 2545).

The information is recorded on small white cards. There are separate bundles for each calendar year for absconders, escapees and discharges. The cards may include some or all of the following:

- name
- date of birth
- client number
- a reference to admission
- date of expiry of sentence
- dates of Parole Board Meetings and reviews
- remissions
- dates of progress reports
- brief description of escape.

For absconders, the back of the card details the trainee's offence history and court appearances. Information is recorded in pencil except for the information in relation to the absconding and the reference to admission, both of which are recorded in red ink. From 1988 absconders were known as escapees.

Discharge details such as remission approved, appeal upheld, to parole etc. are recorded in red ink. Other information is recorded in pencil.

Information for absconders is dated 1978-1987. Information for escapees is dated 1988-1993. Information for discharges/paroles is dated 1977-1993.
