Full description

This series comprises of male and female Child Medical Cards maintained by Allambie Reception Centre (VA 5033).

The cards recorded medical histories of children residing at the Centre from 1961-1990. Many cards are cross-referenced at the top to Statutory Client Information System (SCIS) file numbers, State Ward and Family Welfare Division numbers and various Allambie accommodation units.

Details regarding the child's medical condition from their time of admission were recorded by doctors, dentists and other medical practitioners connected with the Centre.

As well as medical history information, the cards also recorded the following:
- date of birth
- date of admission
- religion
- reason for admission
- names of parents and contact details
- height
- colour of eyes and hair
- general physical appearance
- vision
- hearing
- Medicare number
- immunisations known
- dental record

The cards in this series relate to clients that were active during the time of the Centre's closure in 1990, as well as inactive clients. A small group of cards are for children transferred to Intellectual Disability Services.
