This series documents traverse surveys carried out in the town of St Arnaud.

A traverse survey is a series of intervisible points at which angles are measured, and between which distances are measured.

Information from survey books is used to draw up plans to plot water, sewerage and drainage works.

Familiarity with survey techniques is necessary to make full use of these records.
