Full description
The information recorded in these volumes includes patient serial and record numbers, date of admission, patient's name and exact age, place of birth, religion, ward to which admitted, address, disease, attendant surgeon, date sent to and returned from [Brighton] convalescent cottage, date of discharge or outcome (if died), number of days in hospital and remarks. Entries are arranged in chronological order. Recordkeeping practices changed in 1950 and while the registers and the patient record numbers continued the additional information ceased to be included after this date. The volumes between 1950 and 1988 were therefore deemed to be temporary records and were not transferred to PROV.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 1996/001.
