VPRS 16489 Hearing Book

Full description

The Hearing Book consisted of the collection of documents served on parties to the Royal Commission. It was a subset of content from the Commission's case management system (see VPRS 16490 and 16491). Records identified by the legal team as likely to be used in evidence were copied from the case management system into the hearing book. Note that documents not maintained in the evidence management system could also be tendered in the hearing room. These documents were copied directly to the hearing book

Only a small subset of documents within the Hearing Book were formally tendered into evidence. Documents introduced as evidence can be found in VPRS 16497 Exhibits.

Not all information was necessarily recorded against each document.

Documents were not assigned new IDs in the hearing book – they were carried over from the case management system.

Documents were grouped into files for purpose of transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, predominantly based on document source, though some are simply titled “Bundle of Documents Intended for Tendering”.
