VPRS 16320 Collection of Maps / Plans, Supreme Court (Records Not Transferred)

Full description

This series consists of a collection of maps associated with court businesses, maps connected with cases heard and maps apparently used for reference by the Supreme Court of Victoria from 1854 to 1888.

Maps showing information pertinent to court business include:
- Map of Victoria marked with circuit districts 1865,
- Map of Victoria showing the bailiwicks of the Supreme Court 1872,
- Map of Victoria showing the Central bailiwick 1890,
- Map of Victoria showing the Midland bailiwick 1890 ?.

The maps appear to have been used when issuing warrants and sending instructions.

Maps used for reference include:
- Census map of the eastern half of Victoria, 1857. (The Law Department was responsible for census and statistics from 1869 to 1874),
- Map of Victoria 1872 x 2 & 1888.

These plans were evidence in Cases heard before the Court
- Plans of Hotham (North Melbourne) 1870's ?,
- Plans of Moonee Ponds creek 1870's ?/
- Plan of the Wakool river,
-Plan of Collingwood, exhibit in 1854 case (Coleman v Bell)
