The tapes record speed of sound conductivity on 9-track tapes, measured from rig or platform.

There is a range of test results listed on the cards. Many different kinds of well logs have been invented for the scientific study of drill holes, for example:
- gamma ray (natural radioactivity)
- speed of sound conductivity
- electricity current reading; electrical response
- seismic data
- navigation
- velocity data, and
- exabyte tapes (and 3.5 inch floppy diskettes containing SP Location Data).
