Full description
This series contains the landscape plan for Koroit Botanic Gardens. The site for the gardens was set aside in 1857 and the first plantings took place in the late 1860s.In 1879, the Koroit local council arranged for William Guilfoyle to tour the site. A layout for the gardens was drawn up by William Guilfoyle, then Director of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. He drew up plans and designed the lay out of the gardens. The resulting 1880 Guilfoyle plan is an example of a 19th century landscape plan.
Even though William Guilfoyle was the designer of the Koroit Botanic garden, his name does not appear on the plan.
