The subject of the correspondence is the establishment of the Geelong Infiirmary and Benevolent Asylum. One of the principal correspondents is Charles Joseph La Trobe, then Superintendent of Port Phillip District. The correspondence includes subscription lists for raising the funds to build a Hospital and Benevolent Asylum. Included are the names of subscribers, place of residence and amount donated.Each item of correspondence is arranged in a single envelope. There is no recordkeeping or control system.
