Whilst the legislation was proclaimed on 1 July 1997, the Corporation was, throughout the proceeding months, in the process of merging and operating administratively as a single entity. This series comprises a complete set of agenda papers and, as such, the date range of the series predates the establishment of the agency.The initial Board, representing the 'de facto' organisation, consisted of the members of the Board of Film Victoria and the Council of the State Film Centre of Victoria. In accordance with the legislative provisions, the Board of Management consisted of the Chairperson, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, and not less than 5 and not more than 7 other directors. All members of the Board, other than the Managing Director, were appointed by the Governor in Council.The Cinemedia Corporation was subject to the general direction and control of the Minister for the Arts. This series was created by the Cinemedia Corporation (VA 4117). It contains a complete set of the Cinemedia's Board of Management agenda papers.

It comprises copies of minutes, agendas and all relevant documentation prepared for the regular and out-of-session meetings of the Board. The contents of this series consist of reports, supporting correspondence, policy-related submissions, applications for organisational funding, and commercial-in-confidence scripts and proposals submitted to the Board for consideration and approval.
