VPRS 15614 Auctions and Land Sales Files

Full description

This series contains examples of files relating to the sale of land originally acquired by the Crown for closer or discharged soldier settlement by auction or by tender or private negotiation. Upon occasion, when a conditional purchase leasehold was abandoned or the lease was cancelled the land was not kept available for a new lessee. Land could be sold by public auction or through the taking of tenders or through private negotiation. Files in this series may include papers relating to the original purchase of the land for the purpose of closer or soldier settlement, details relating to the previous leaseholder or owner, payment and contract details and possibly a plan.
