The Register of Insolvencies lists in summary form details of all cases of insolvency dealt with by the Court. Details were listed of the insolvents name, address and occupation, the total amount of assets and liabilities and the name(s) of assignee and trustee.Proceedings of the Court were set out by the statutes governing insolvency in Victoria. These were firstly, the New South Wales Insolvency Acts of 1841 and 1844 and secondly, with the establishment of the Court of Insolvency in the Insolvency Act 1870 the statutes enacted in Victoria. These were superseded in 1928 with Commonwealth laws enacted and applicable in all states.
