Full description

This series consists of summary sheets (or schedules) prepared by the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) and presented for approval to the Board of Land and Works (VA 714). These were for progress payments being made to cereal farmers under the Drought Relief Act 1944. Details given are the total amount granted to the farmer, the number allocated to his file (possibly the application number), the name of the farmer and the amount of the payment in words and figures.

The Drought Relief Act 1944 provided for payments to be made to cereal farmers to alleviate hardship caused by the drought in Victoria in 1944.
