VPRS 14901 Working and Management Plans

Full description

Section 17 of the Forest Act 1918 (No. 2976) required the Commission to frame working plans with respect to the control, maintenance, improvement, and removal of forest produce in and from each State Forest. On the approval of such working plans by the Governor in Council, the Commission was to put them into operation. The commission could revise any working plan which had been in operation for at least four years and, with approval, cause the revised working plan to be put into operation. Before submitting the revised working plan for approval, the Commission was required to certify that the revision was necessary or expedient in the public interest.

A working plan could specify the maximum area from which forest produce may be taken annually; the maximum quantity of forest produce that may be disposed of annually; the silvicultural operations necessary to ensure the regeneration of the best species of forest on areas which have been cut over; and other such matters as the Commission thinks fit.
