The Index to Slides is an index in the form of cards. It was known in the agency as the "Slide Index" and also the "Kodaslide Index". It is an index to a series of slides. It is likely that the slides which it controls are no longer extant. The index is one where the letters of the alphabet relate to a particular subject. Those subjects have been listed on two cards at the front of the index. The index headings are as follows:
A - Demonstration Areas
B - Farm Planning Projects incl. Cooperative
C - Hanslow Cup Competition
D - General Farm Practices
E - Examples of Water Erosion
F - Examples of Wind Erosion
G - Conservation Works (Wind Erosion) - Agronomic
H - Conservation Works (Wind Erosion) - Other means
J - Conservation Works (Water Erosion) - Vegetative
K - Conservation Works (Water Erosion) - Contours, graded banks and Waterways
L - Conservation Works (Water Erosion) - Dams and other Earthworks
M - Conservation Works (Water Erosion) - Structures
N - Conservation Works (Water Erosion) - General
O - Research Projects - Regional Surveys
P - Research Projects - Ecological and Agronomic
Q - Research Projects - Land Development Plots etc.
R - Research Projects - Soils Projects (Batter Stabilization)
S - Research Projects - Hydrological Projects (Salting)
T - Research Projects - Engineering Projects (Finn Equipment)

Each subject is then divided up into a number of sub-titles. These are listed on a card at the beginning of each alphabetical section. These could be the names of districts as in the case of Demonstration Areas and the Hanslow Cup Competition. Each card, in turn, includes the following information: serial number, section number, date, district, taken by (photographer), and subject matter. The subject matter includes a heading.
