This series consists of contracts, minutes, tenders, plans, financial records and other miscellaneous records relating to the Overseas Projects Corporation Victoria's community health project in Taveuni, Fiji.In 2004, the OPCV website stated:
"The overall goal of this project is to reduce morbidity and mortality rates on Fiji's third major Island, Taveuni. Fundamental to achieving this goal the project will improve Health Management Systems, facilitate Community Health Development and Human Resource Development and strengthen referral systems.
The project also involves Health Facilities design and construction and procurement of all equipment for a new major sub-divisional hospital, several Community Health Centres and associated staff housing.
The project is designed to improve the self-reliance and social welfare for the people of Taveuni, and will become a model for the approach to Rural Health development in the Islands of the Pacific."
OPCV's client for this project was the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
Whilst the OPCV undertook numerous projects during its existence, records of this project have been retained permanently under the Public Record Office Standard 96/13 General Disposal Schedule for Common Administrative Records (class 2.2.1 - projects requiring Minister's approval).
