Full description
This series consists of sets of cards used as part of the filing system created by the Port Phillip Authority (VA 1102) and subsequently the Ministry for Planning and Environment. The first set consists of the Name Index cards where cards were ordered by the name of correspondents including individuals, government departments and other organisations. Details given on each card are the date of a piece of correspondence, a summary of its subject and the related file number.Another group of cards is the Locality Index ordered by localities where works had been carried out or proposals for works made. Under each locality are listed the proposals and the associated file number.
In the same box are calendar cards used to record the dates when pieces of correspondence were received with there details. These details were then transferred to the Name and the Locality Indexes. The box also contains some cards from the previous filing system with the old file numbers and the new file numbers as set out in VPRS 14609 File Subject Index Cards.
