This series consists of ledgers documenting the receipt and disbursement of money by the Receiver of Revenue and Paymaster at Ballarat on behalf of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) in relation to land selection leases or the local mining division of the Ballarat Mining District (VA 3800) in relation to mining leases.Debit information is recorded on the record for each application on lefthand side of each page. It includes the date, (Receivers) application number, the name of the applicant and the reason (usually a deposit) and the amount. Credit details are recorded on the righthand side of the same page and records details of disbursements (usually survey or mining survey fees or the balance of a deposit) and the amounts. Details of refunds are also given.
