Full description

This series consists of the successful Community Grants to various non-profit community groups by the City of Kingston (VA 3697). Community Grants were awarded in two categories: Arts and Cultural Development, and Sports and Recreation. Grants were applied for and received annually. Funds for the Grants were allocated as part of the annual budget process performed by City of Kingston. Applications for Community Grants would be called for in December, and the successful applicants would receive their Grant early the following year.

The arts and cultural development community grants were developed to encourage community groups and artists within the City of Kingston to improve their resources, skills and knowledge in the areas of creative and cultural development, and in the management of arts and cultural activities. The sports and Recreation Development Grant were developed to assist athletes with the costs of competing at a high level of performance in their chosen sport.
