The Denominational Schools Board was established in 1848 and was responsible for the distribution of funds to denominational schools from an annual Parliamentary grant and a proportion of the Church and Schools Estates revenue.This series contains transcriptions of the Board's outwards letters. Noted in the margin beside letters is the inward registered number (see VPRS 60 Registers of Inward Correspondence) of any piece of correspondence to which this one is the reply. Also noted in the margin is any amount of money which is being forwarded or sent by draft to the recipient.
This correspondence includes copies of circulars, reports of the Board and copies of Board rules and regulations. Other matters dealt with include the application for and distribution of grants, instructions for the guidance of Inspectors, communications with teachers and Trustees regarding appointments and salaries, matters relating to the provision of school buildings, furniture and requisites. Correspondence directed specifically to other Government Departments and Inspectors was recorded in separate series (see VPRS 14178 and VPRS 14179).
This series was previously registered as Units 1, 3, 4, 6 and 9 to 17 inclusive of VPRS 62 / P Outwards Letter Book.
