This series consists of records created or gathered by the Commission of Inquiry into the Surf Coast Shire Council.The series includes:
- background material which was provided by the Inspector of Municipal Administration, Merv Whelan.
- records relating to SurfLink, a business arm of the Surf Coast Shire Council established in response to the compulsory competitive tendering requirements of the Local Government Act 1989. SurfLink provided the community with a range of services including home and community care, waste management, engineering, planning and financial services.
- records of the Surf Coast Shire Council including minutes, financial and audit records, corporate plans and records relating to staff.
The series also includes the records of the public hearings and private interviews conducted by the Commission and submissions and other reference material provided to the Commission by individuals.
