The series consists of volumes and files containing statements of staff in the Rolling Stock Branch of the Victorian Railway Commission.

The series comprises:

- Volumes containing staff returns within the Rolling Staff Branch. The information recorded includes name of the employee, position held (permanent or supernumerary), commencement date, date left and other details including retired, resigned, or terminated, etc.,

- Files containing statements on number of employees employed in workshops under various grades, eg, Car Painter, Welder, Tool Smith , etc.,

- Statements on summary of staff paid under various awards.
