Full description

This series is the register mandated by Section 56 (4) for orders given by lessees for Crown grants to be delivered to mortgagees. Details given are the dates of the order and of approval, the name of the lessee, details of the land such as the county, parish, allotment and section and extent, the person authorised to receive the crown grant and their address and the name of the mortgagee.

Section 56 of the Land Act 1884 and 1890 provided that lessees who had received advances of money on the security of the lease could give an order that person might take delivery of the grant once all rents and fees were paid. Once consent had been given by the Board of Land and Works, the grant in the lessee's name was to be delivered to the person name in the order. Where a legal mortgage was in effect, the mortgage was to be endorsed by the Registrar of Titles as a legal encumbrance on the grant.
