VPRS 13100 Classification List of General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number System II

This series comprises a file classification list for general correspondence files maintained by the State Film Centre Victoria (VA 2325).

Multiple Number System II was introduced in 1993 and replaced the previous Multiple Number System (VPRS 11856). The content of some of the files controlled by the previous system were incorporated into this new system and top-numbered.

In 1997, the State Film Centre merged with Film Victoria (VA 1071) to form Cinemedia (VA 4117).

It then appears that active files belonging to Multiple Number System II were kept in their original folders as content was added, but the files were treated as subject files according to the file title.

This suggests that the files may have been part of the system of General Correspondence Subject Files (1977-ct) (VPRS 11855). However, in order to facilitate easier access to these files, it was decided to keep all files created under Multiple Number System II in this original order.

The exact start and end dates for this series are unknown, particularly as the recordkeeping system seemed to merge with that of VPRS 11855. However, subject to further research, it seems that files were no longer labelled with multiple numbers from 1997.
