The P0001 consignment of this series contains copies of internal memoranda issued by various officers of the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop Authority (MURLA). The memoranda relate to a wide range of topics such as emergency procedures, procedures for issue of drawings, staffing arrangements, microfilming of drawings and documents, and telephone services.

The P0002 consignment of this series contains the internal memoranda written by the Principal Consultant during the main phase of construction of the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop tunnels. The memoranda were used to circulate relevant project information within John Connell-Mott, Hay & Anderson Hatch, Jacobs (Principal Consultant) and MURLA. The MURL-IM (Melbourne Underground Rail Loop-Internal Memo) number was also used within correspondence as a reference for accurate communication.

The Internal Memoranda contain project information on the construction of the Melbourne Underground Rail Tunnel loops, including decisions about construction methods and processes, administration processes and procedures, employee conditions, site conditions, construction problems and solutions, finance management and decisions on project responsibility and control.
