Full description

Section 120 of the Social Welfare Act 1970 (No.8089) allows for the appointment of Visiting Justices through the Governor-in-Council. A Visiting Justice was to, in rotation with other Visiting Justices, visit a prison not more than once a week and make reports to the Governor-in-Council as required.

This series also contains entries pertaining to prisoner's applications and complaints to the Visiting Justice.

Entries in the volumes include the date of the hearing, details of the charge / complaint, name of the visiting justice, decision and the signature of the particular Visiting Justice.
