This series constituted the general correspondence of the Ministry for Arts (VA 1025) created under a multiple number system from 1973 to 1987.

In 1987 this system was abandoned save for the financial grants' files which retained their pre-1987 file numbers ie: 17/3/*. These files were not top numbered into the subsequent year and a single number system. For subsequent series refer to VPRS 8373 General Correspondence Files, Year and Single Number System

This series documented the functions of the Agency. The series contain files relating to:

- General arts information correspondence
- Grants to cultural organisations ( primary number being 17)
- Development fund
- Ministry Branches
- Ministry projects/initiatives
- Office services
- Policy and Procedures
- Research information.
