These records were maintained by the Crown Solicitor's Office (VA 667). The role of the Crown Solicitor was to provide legal advice to Executive Government, Ministers of the Crown, Government Departments and Instrumentalities. This advice is known as a Memorandum and generally relates to an interpretation of a particular piece of legislation or regulation.This series consists of the original Memorandum of Advice tendered to a particular agency. The series also includes a covering letter from the Crown Solicitor and in many cases a copy of the original correspondence received from the government agency.
