The series is a Nominal index to Fire Reports for the period 1908 to 1985. The microfilm index (P1 consignment of this series) provided the name of the property owner and the address of the property. The cards will often list details of how many rooms if the building was a dwelling, the business type if the property was not a dwelling, the date of the fire / incident and, the Fire Report number. It is likely they were used by the Brigade as a summary control index, to quickly ascertain the most recent fire brigade attendance at a property.
