This series consists of the minutes of the Public Transport Corporation's (PTC) Board meetings. Minutes were created to record summary details of the general administrative activities of the Board discussed at the meetings, decisions on general matters, correspondence received, tenders approved, appointments, summaries of reports, and budget and expenditure information. Minutes related to a wide range of activities for which the Board was responsible.The Public Transport Corporation was established in accordance with the Transport (Amendments) Act 1989 (No. 44). In accordance with section 30 of the Act, the Board consisted of the Chief Executive Officer and thirteen other members appointed by the Minister. Of these thirteen members, one was a nominee of the Minister; four were elected by officers of the corporation with specialised knowledge of public transport facilities, country public transport facilities, public transport freight facilities and tourist facilities. Representatives from the Bus Proprietor's Association, Victorian Farmer's Federation, Victorian Road Transport Association, and a representative selected by the Municipal Association of Victoria were also members of the Board.
This series included the minutes of meetings that were convened for specific purposes. These files also contain facilitative documentation, including correspondence and memoranda, and were arranged by subject, eg., Freight, Passenger, Remuneration, Transport (Amendment) Act 1982, etc.
