Full description
The records in this series consist of a set of files giving details of the arrangements made for visits by the Agent-General for Victoria, itineraries for, correspondence regarding and reactions to and accounts of these visits. It would appear that the purpose of these visits to regional centres was to allow the Agent-General to become familiar with the regional areas in order to effectively promote and publicise them.
These records have a different recordkeeping system to correspondence series associated with the Premiers Department (of which the office of the Agent-General was a part), the Division of State Development and Decentralisation and its principal associated agency the Central Planning Authority. It may have been that the Division of State Development or the Central Planning Authority used a small subsidiary recordkeeping system for matters concerning the Agent-General and the overseas promotional opportunities available through this office.
