Discussion by Cabinet in June 1944 led to the formation of the Victorian Country Homes Committee comprising Mr Lienhop (Chairman) representing the Government, Mr E Bartrop (Real Estate interests) and Mr Jenkins representing the Municipal Association. The Committee was to report to the Premier and to Cabinet and was administratively supported by VA 2717 Department of the Premier. The purpose of the Committee was to encourage the movement of families from the metropolitan area to country districts. The Committee was prepared to offer financial assistance to families prepared to do so.
