The Port Phillip Sea Pilots were formed, originally as companies under the overall regulation of VA 4179 Pilot Board of Victoria and, from 1888, VA 1424 Marine Board.

This series consists of the outward letter books of the Secretary and Treasurer at Williamstown. Correspondence includes reports to the Board of monthly expenditure and in relation to other matters, correspondence with shipowners and ship's masters regarding matters pertaining to pilotage and other matters relating to the administration of the Pilot Company such as financial and personnel matters. Also included is correspondence from the Sea Pilots to the Marine Board.

This series was formerly registered as Units 11 - 15 of VPRS 562 Correspondence Records.
