Hansard is the official verbatim report of the proceedings of Parliament of Victoria.

From its establishment, the Chief Secretarys Department co-ordinated the policy of government and acted as a channel of communication between other government departments. Consequently it was required to keep abreast of proceedings within Parliament and distribute policy information as required.

This series consists of a scrap - book with pasted copies of Hansard that was maintained within the Chief Secretarys Office the administrative division of the Department of the Chief Secretary. Hansard that pertained to matters relevant to the Department were cut out of the official Hansard publication and pasted into this scrap - book for future reference. A subject index was also pasted at the start of the volume.
