Full description

The Lifts and Cranes Act 1967 (No.7629) provided for the safe construction, installation and use of lifts, cranes and amusement structures.

In this regard, it provided for:
- the appointment of inspectors and provision for inspections
;- the issue of certificates of competency to lift mechanics, crane drivers and riggers
;- safety precautions to be taken in the manufacture and installation of lifts, cranes and amusement structures
;- safety precautions in the operation of lifts, cranes and amusement structures; and
- registrations of lifts, cranes and amusement structures.

This series consists of volumes that register the suitably qualified crane drivers. A certificate of competency was issued bearing the registration number. The information recorded includes:
