Full description
This series consists of published papers documenting the proceedings of Sessions of the Federal Council of Australasia. The Council was established by an Imperial Act which did not come into effect until at least four colonies passed an Act to bring the imperial legislation into operation. Victoria passed the (Victorian) Federal Council Act in 1885: other colonies to participate in the first session of the Council were Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia and Fiji. The Council was established so that colonies could unite to deal with matters of common Australasian interest. This series includes the Official Record of Debates from Council Sessions, and the Journals and Printed Papers of the Council.
